top nigerian music labels of the year

In 2015, there was a lot of activity in the ever growing Nigerian music industry, including the release of monster hit songs and establishment of budding stars. Naij.com’s Michael Abimboye takes a look at four record labels who had a good year as regards, music, endorsement and stars.
5 Star Music

5 Star Music Star

Aside the failed publicity stunt with the label’s third artiste, Skibi, 5 Star Music had a good year dishing out good music. Although the label didn’t release an album in 2015, it was released some of the big songs including Reggae Blues, Ebeano, Turn by Turn as well as others like Feel it, Love boat, Beta Pikin, Ofeshe, Stay with me.
The also shifted attention from Kcee to Harry Song and he is expected to release his debut album with the label in the first quarter of 2015.
Made Men Music Group

iyanya

Tripple MG as the label is also known also had a good run in 2015 with attention on Tekno. While Iyanya released is third album which included hits like Applaudise, Gift, Nakupenda. On his part, Tekno released the monster hit, Duro and Wash.
On the endorsement deal side, Iyanya retained his deal with MTN just as the label’s new star, Tekno.
Mavin Records

The Mavins

Mavin Records is home to SID, Tiwa Savage, D’Prince, Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and Di’Ja. In 2015, under the watchful eyes of the label’s head and supper producer, Donjazzy, we witnessed the growth of Reekado Banks, Korede Bello and Di’Ja and we were blessed with hit songs.
Godwin, Jantamata, Katapot, Aww, Oga Titus were hit released under the label in 2015. Donjazzy also blessed other artistes with hit songs in the year.
Aside hits, the label’s artistes also got endorsement deal from MTN, Glo, Pepsi and to wrap it up, the label will be doing an almost free concert at the end of the year.
YBNL nation

adekunle gold

Perhaps the best label for 2015. Olamide proved that he’s ready to give the further stars the platform to shine as we saw the rise of Lil Kesh, Adekunle Gold and Viktoh.
On the endorsement front, the label got deals from Etisalat, Sure Bet and Guinness. The label only manage to release two albums in 2015 – Two Kings (Olamide and Phyno), Eyan Mayweather by Olamide.
The label was also responsible for the biggest hits of the year. From Bobo to Lagos Boys, Efejoku, Gbese, Sade, Orente, Skibi dat. The videos released from the label were also clean and fit for each of the songs.
