Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s Premier League record Broken

England striker Jamie Vardy has broken former Manchester United star Ruud Van Nistelrooy’s Premier League record by scoring in an 11th consecutive top flight game.
Vardy broke the record in the 24th minute of Leicester City’s game against Manchester United to put his side 1-0 up in a top of the table clash.

His goal came after he was picked out by Christian Fuchs after a nice counter attack play from the foxes.
Vardy’s record-breaking strike was however cancelled out by Schweinsteiger on the stroke of half time.

The German headed home Daley Blind’s corner to level the scores just before half-time whistle.
However, Vardy has netted 13 goals on his current run and is the Premier League’s top scorer so far this season with 14 goals overall.
In May 2012, he signed for Leicester City in the Football League Championship for a non-league record transfer fee of £1 million, and represented the club in the Premier League after winning the Championship in 2014. Vardy made his international debut for England in 2015.
Taking to Instagram to congratulate Vardy on his new feat, former record holder Ruud Van Nistelrooy wrote: “Well done vardy7! You’re number one now and you deserved it.”
The game between Leicester City and Manchester United was in the second half as at the time of preparing this report.

Breaking News!! Court Of Appeal Sacks David Mark

SENATE 1
A Court of Appeal sitting in Makurdi, the capital of Benue State has nullified the election of former senate president, David Mark.
The Makurdi division of the Court of Appeal on Saturday, ordered a re-run of the poll within 90 days.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate for Benue South, Mr Donald Onjeh had challenged the decision of the National and State Assembly Election Petitions Tribunal, which upheld the victory of Senator Mark of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Mr Onjeh’s lawyer, Adetunji Oso, also urged the Appellate Court to allow his appeal and set aside the decision of the Tribunal.
He said the court erred when it held that the papers tendered by his client were mere documentary hearsay.
The documents, according to Mr Oso, demonstrated that while the collation of results for the Benue South senatorial district’s election on March 28 was still ongoing in seven of the nine local government areas, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), declared Senator Mark winner of the poll.

Three die in shooting at Colorado clinic -Planned Parenthood

Media captionSimon Clemison reports: ''The motive behind this attack is not yet clear''
A shooting at a family planning clinic in Colorado Springs has left two civilians and a police officer dead, with the suspected gunman under arrest.
Nine other people were injured during the standoff at the Planned Parenthood clinic, which lasted five hours before the suspect surrendered.
A number of people were trapped inside the building as shots were exchanged.
The motive remains unclear. The Planned Parenthood group has drawn anti-abortion protests in the past.
A law enforcement source identified the suspect as Robert Lewis Dear, from North Carolina. No other details were given.
"I want to convey to the loved ones of the victims, this is a terrible, terrible tragedy that occurred here in Colorado Springs today," Mayor John Suthers told a news conference.
"Obviously, we lost two civilian victims. We mourn the loss of a very brave police officer."
The dead policeman was named as Garrett Swasey, 44, who was married with two children.

Garrett Swasey, who was killed, was a campus police officer for the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (UCCS)

A man could be seen being taken into custody outside the centre
Colorado Springs Police Chief Peter Carey said five police officers were among the injured, who were being treated in local hospitals.
Police had sealed off streets around the centre as officers tried to make contact with the suspect.
"We did get officers inside the building," police Lt Catherine Buckley said.

What is Planned Parenthood?

  • A healthcare non-profit-making group with 59 affiliates and 700 clinics around the US
  • The largest single provider of abortion in the US
  • Its clinics provide many other healthcare services including cancer screening
  • Dates back to 1916 when social activist and nurse Margaret Sanger opened the first birth control and family planning centre in Brooklyn, New York
  • In the 1960s and 1970s, Planned Parenthood affiliates were at the fore of many court fights to make abortion legal
"They were able to shout to the suspect and make communication with him and at that point they were able to get him to surrender and he was taken into custody."
Police said the suspect had been seen carrying "some bags" into the building and teams were combing the area for possible explosives.
The suspect's car which was found nearby was also being checked for explosives, CNN reported.

The manager of a nearby hair salon, Denise Speller, said she had heard as many as 20 gunshots in under five minutes.
She told a local newspaper she had seen one of two police officers appear to fall to the ground and the other attempt to get the wounded officer behind their police vehicle.
Police had told shoppers at a nearby centre to stay indoors.
In a statement, Planned Parenthood said it was not yet clear "if Planned Parenthood was in fact the target of this attack".
"Our concern is for the safety of our patients, staff and law enforcement," said its CEO, Vicki Cowart.
Planned Parenthood has been the focus of protests recently after an anti-abortion organisation secretly recorded a Planned Parenthood official discussing how to obtain aborted foetal tissue for medical research.
Pro-life advocates say this proves Planned Parenthood is selling foetal parts for profit - which is illegal - but this is disputed by the organisation.
New York's city police said it had deployed critical response vehicles to Planned Parenthood sites in the city because of the Colorado incident, but said there was no threat in the city.

Gunman Kills 3 In US Abortion Clinic Shootout

The suspect surrenders to police six hours after the start of the attack in which six officers and six civilians were shot.

Three people including a police officer were killed and nine wounded when a gunman opened fire at a family planning centre in Colorado Springs.
The death of Garrett Swasey, 44, was announced "with great sorrow" by the Colorado Fraternal Order of Police.
He was from the University of Colorado, about 10 minutes away from the clinic, and had responded to a call to help city officers.

Two civilians also died in hospital as a result of their injuries. Their identities are not yet known.
In all, six police and six civilians were shot in the attack at the Planned Parenthood building in Centennial Boulevard.

They were taken to two local hospitals where the nine survivors are said to be in a good condition. None of the victims were patients or members of staff at the clinic.
"I want to convey to the loved ones of the victims: this is a terrible, terrible tragedy that occurred here in Colorado Springs today," Mayor John Suthers told reporters.
The standoff began shortly before midday local time on Friday and ended after six hours when the suspect gave himself up. He has been named as Robert Lewis Dear from North Carolina.
Colorado Springs police spokeswoman Catherine Buckley said the gunman had taken bags into the building, which was being searched amid fears they contained explosives.
She said he was armed with a "long weapon" with a shoulder stock such as a rifle, and some witnesses reported hearing automatic fire.
Many people were evacuated from the building but others were unable to get out.
Joan Motolinia said his sister, Jennifer, called him while hiding behind a table in the clinic and that he could hear gunfire in the background.
"She was telling me to take care of her babies because she could get killed," he said of the mother of three.
Quan Hoang, the owner of a nearby nail salon, told CNN that when he first heard shots fired he thought a local bank was being robbed.
"We see cops, SWAT, the bomb squad, a whole bunch of people just trying to take cover around the Planned Parenthood area," he said in a telephone interview.
"An officer came back in and said, 'Is everyone safe?' We asked him questions and he said they've barricaded him inside the Planned Parenthood and he was shooting out from the windows."
Planned Parenthood said it did not know if it was the target of the attack.
However, Vicki Cowart, president of its Colorado branch, said in a statement: "We share the concerns of many Americans that extremists are creating a poisonous environment that feeds domestic terrorism in this country."
Planned Parenthood operates hundreds of clinics nationwide providing services such as contraception, abortions and STD testing.
The non-profit organisation - which was rocked by claims it sells aborted foetal tissue for profit earlier this year - has been repeatedly targeted by pro-life activists.

Media Hyping Up Inequality Debate

The Carol star says there is no shortage of jobs for women in Hollywood and it's time the conversation moved on.

Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara
 Cate Blanchett On Inequality
Cate Blanchett has told Sky News it is the media which is creating an issue over women's inequality in Hollywood.
The Oscar winner dismissed claims by her peers that it is harder to carve a successful career in the film industry if you are a woman: "There's a critical mass of women behind the camera - in front of the camera - who are producing, who are making the work and then it's about how it's discussed."
Blanchett, who is promoting Carol, said it is about time the conversation moved on: "I think it’s up to the media to change the conversation, frankly; to change the language.
"The work is there, the talent is there - it has been for decades, for centuries: it’s about changing the discourse around it."
Blanchett did agree that there is an issue with pay disparity - as highlighted by Jennifer Lawrence - but didn’t think that it was a problem that exists solely in Hollywood.
"It's not just the film industry, it's across all industries - equal pay for equal work."
In Carol, Blanchett plays a housewife in 1950s New York who falls for a younger woman, played by Rooney Mara.
It's based on Patricia Highsmith’s novel The Price Of Salt - which was published in 1952 with the tag line: "The novel of a love society forbids."
Jennifer Lawrence
Jennifer Lawrence has been fighting for pay equality
Blanchett believes society has moved on sufficiently to not label this film a "lesbian love story".
"It's about two women falling in love - but you sort of forget their gender - it's an impediment but another impediment to their love is the age gap and the class difference.
"If the film had been made 10 years ago, I think it would have been viewed as a much more political film.
"But we did a press conference and people from China were saying it would be a difficult film for people to see there, in many parts of Africa, in Russia, this film will perhaps not be seen - so it's not necessarily the fact that these two women are falling in love - it's by no means easy all around the world."
The film has received six Independent Spirit Award nominations - and many critics are tipping both leads for Oscar nominations - with Blanchett in the running for best actress and Rooney Mara expected to be in the best supporting actress category.
But Blanchett is not getting too carried away about early Oscar predictions: "If you can harness that buzz then that's fantastic - because what it does is that it makes an audience excited to go and see the film and that’s why we all do it."
But she admits that she'd love her name to be read when the nominations are confirmed early next year: "Of course it's great to be recognised by your peers, but it’s not why you go into it - you’re made to feel disingenuous if you say that….but it's true!"
Carol is in cinemas now.

Mali attack: Rocket kills three at UN base at Kidal

Some 10,000 soldiers from dozens of different nations are currently serving in Mali under the UN banner
Three people have been killed in a rocket attack on a UN peacekeepers' base in northern Mali, the UN says.
Two UN peacekeepers from Guinea and a civilian contractor were killed in the attack in Kidal, officials said.
Eight days ago, gunmen attacked a hotel in the capital, Bamako, taking scores hostage. Nineteen people were killed.
The peacekeeping mission in Mali was approved in 2014 after France led a military campaign to drive out Islamist militants from the north.
The Minusma force comprises some 10,000 soldiers from dozens of different contributor countries - the majority from Mali's west African neighbours.
World's most dangerous peacekeeping mission
The UN mission - criticised by some at the time of its approval because there is no peace deal to support - has suffered more casualties than any other in recent years, with 56 troops killed.

Islamist militants are suspected of being behind Saturday's attack, in which 14 people were injured, several seriously, reports suggest.
"Our camp in Kidal was attacked early this morning by terrorists using rockets," said an official from the Minusma force.

Japan to resume whaling in Antarctic despite court ruling

A minke whale (R) and calf rise to the surface off the coast near Sydney, Australia on 8 June 2010
Japan says it will catch only a third of the minke whales it caught under its previous programme - 333 instead of 1,000
Japan has announced it will resume whaling in the Antarctic early next year after a break of more than a year.
The decision comes despite an International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling that Japan cease all whaling.
The Japanese government says it has taken into account the court ruling and its "scientific" whaling programme will be much smaller.
But the announcement has been condemned by environmental groups and the Australian and UK governments.
"We do not accept in any way, shape or form the concept of killing whales for so-called 'scientific research'," said Australian Environment Minister Greg Hunt.
"We are deeply disappointed with Japan's decision to restart whaling in the Southern Ocean," said the UK environment ministry, Defra. "This undermines the global ban on commercial whaling which the UK strongly supports."

 Tweet from Animal Protection:
Japan's whaling fleet could set sail again within weeks and head for the Southern Ocean, says the BBC's Rupert Wingfield Hayes in Tokyo.
Under Japan's revised plan, it will reduce the number of minke whales caught each year by two thirds to 333.
The Japanese authorities believe their plan is scientifically reasonable but it is unlikely to placate opponents, in particular the Australian government.
"Japan cannot unilaterally decide whether it has adequately addressed" scientists' questions, Mr Hunt was quoted as saying.
Greenpeace activists (L) in an inflatable dingy are hit with high powered water hoses as they impede the transfer of whales from a
This is the latest move in a years-long struggle pitting Japan against other governments, activists and the international court

'Sentimental' critics

In 2014 Australia won a case against Japan in the international court of justice in the Netherlands.
The court ruled that Japan's "scientific" whaling program was not scientific at all - and ordered Tokyo to recall its fleet.
Crucially, the ruling stated that it did not believe it was necessary for Japan to kill whales in order to study them, our correspondent says.
Japan started its whaling programme in 1987, a year after an international moratorium was enacted.
It accuses critics of being sentimental about whales and disregarding scientific evidence about the sustainability of whaling.
The ICJ says Japan has caught some 3,600 minke whales since its current programme began in 2005.

Buhari Shocks Ministers With Poor Salaries And Austere Allowances

buhari___
Barely three weeks in office, President Muhammadu Buhari has shocked Ministers with poor salaries and austere allowances.
He has also imposed dos and don’ts on the ministers including travel restrictions.
Most Ministers were said to be embarrassed by the perks of office accruable to them in office.
The only leverage the Ministers will enjoy is the privilege of flying in a Business Class on trips.
These conditions of service for Ministers were contained in a letter given to them during the week by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Engr. Babachir David Lawal.
The letter said: “I am pleased to inform you that the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, has appointed you as a Minister in the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria
“The appointment takes effect from 11th November, 2015 under the following Terms and Conditions of Service as contained in “Certain Political, Public and Judicial Office Holders(Salaries and Allowances, etc) (Amendment ) Act 2008.”
“I am to add that your tenure terminates at the end of this Administration unless otherwise decided by Mr. President. Please accept my heartiest congratulations and best wishes on your appointment.”
The SGF’s letter gave the details of the perks which the ministers will enjoy in office as long as they last in the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
While the substantive minister will earn N2, 026, 400 Annual Basic Salary($8,514.285), Minister of State is to get N1.8million($7,563.025) per annum.
Other highlights of the conditions include: Estacode Allowance($900 per diem); Duty Tour Allowance(N35,000); Utilities Allowance(Telephone/ Electricity/ Water)–30% of Annual Basic Salary (N607,920); Domestic Staff Allowance(75% -((N1,519,800) of Annual Basic Salary; Medical Facilities (in accordance with NHIS Policy); Special Assistant (To be provided in kind); Security (To be provided in kind); Air Travel (By Business Class); Newspaper Allowance (15% of Annual Basic Salary-N303,960).
The letter said: “As a Political Office Holder, you must obtain permission from Mr. President before you travel out of Abuja. If the trip is official, Ministers are entitled to a Duty Tour Allowance of N35,000 per diem. However, all private journeys will attract no Allowance.
“Severance Allowance of 300 %of Annual Basic Salary payable after full tenure of office with government. The allowance will be pro-rated after a minimum of two years tenure.
It added: “200 % of Annual Basic Salary (N4,052,800) will be paid to you to enable you to acquire accommodation of your choice in line with monetization policy.
“Furniture Allowance. 300 %(N6,079,200) of Annual Basic Salary will be paid once in every four years. The allowance will be paid annually at the rate of 75% (N1,519,800) of Annual Basic salary.
“Motor Vehicle Fuelling Maintenance Allowance. 75% of Annual Basic Salary (N1,519,800) for the maintenance of your vehicle(s) as Government no longer provides chauffeur driven vehicles to Political Office Holders/Public Officers for house to office running.
“Annual Leave (30 calendar days for each leave year or calculated on pro-rata basis, with 10% of Annual Basic Salary(N202,640) as leave grant); Personal Assistant Allowance (25% of Annual Basic salary to enable you to employ a Personal Assistant of your choice).”
Investigation however revealed that some of the ministers were uncomfortable with the salary and allowance package because it might not be able to pick their bills.
The package has caused rumbles in the cabinet because while Nigerian ministers earn $8, 514.28 Per Annum (N2,026,400), their counterparts in Ghana are on $50,000 (N11,900,000) and those in South Africa (the highest paying in the continent) were said to be taking home about $302,521 per annum.
A reliable source said: “Most ministers have been sad since they received their letters of appointment because the salary and allowance package was a far cry from where they were coming from. We hope that ministers will eventually not steal if they have to serve this nation on hungry stomach.
“We have ministers in this government who left high-net worth job of $10,000 to $20,000 per month, how will they settle their bills? Some ministers have headed corporate. You can imagine a minister managing about $3billion portfolio now getting $8,521 per Annum.
“Some ministers have children in Ivy League universities where they are paying as much as $40,000 to $60,000 per annum. How will they be able to cope to meet up with their responsibilities?”
As at press time, it was unclear if the ministers had made representation to the president or not.
“Curiously, we have some Executive Secretaries, Directors-General and Group Managing Directors of parastatals like NNPC, PPMC, NCC, NDIC, PEF, PPPRA, DPR, NERC, NIGCOMSAT, and others who will be earning more than their ministers. I think the system is distorted somehow.”
Another source added: “To earn commensurate salaries and allowances, the president can explore foreign donors’ basket for payment of ministers. Or else, it will be difficult to get the best from this team.
“Alternatively, there might be scientific corruption in Buhari’s cabinet. This is the type of corruption we call ‘chop and clean mouth.’

Man Accused Of Withdrawing N45 Million Erroneously Transferred To His Account Finally Speaks Up

A few days ago, reports were circulating that a certain Jerry Ogbonna Obike Phillip was wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for withdrawing the sum of N45 million which had been erroneously deposited into his account.
According to the notice sent out by EFCC, Jerry had withdrawn the money and absconded before the error could be rectified and the money deposited to the right owner.
However, someone who purports to be Jerry Ogbonna is denying the allegations on Facebook. Yesterday, a Jerry Ogbonna took to Facebook to state his own side of the and throw more light on what really happened with the mystery money.
Read him below:
On the Withdrawal of Money Purported to Have Been Wrongly Credited to My Account by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and My Allegedly Being Wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)
My attention has been drawn to the falsehood being circulated on some social and print media platforms with my above photograph claiming that I am wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for withdrawing N45 million purported to have been wrongly credited to my account by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
For the avoidance of doubt, let me state categorically that the deposit was not made in error. The said amount was credited to my account with Diamond Bank Plc in 2012 for a contract I have with the Ministry of Petroleum Resources for the lease of three (3) helicopters from Tunisia for the Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR). The helicopters were former President Umaru Musa Yar’Aduas idea to prevent the DPR from hiring helicopters from the International Oil Companies (IOCs)they were supposed to police.
The N45 million was part payment of the mobilisation for the contract. The full mobilization is N110 million, and a total of N90 million has been paid by the ministry as mobilisation. However, some staff ofthe CBN and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources wanted me to launder the money and share it with them without supplying the helicopters for the stipulated service but I refused, insisting that it was against my principles. Our nation will continue to crawl behind other nations of the world if we all continue to acquiesce to such corrupt propositions and compromise the integrity of such or any contracts.
I am ready to fight whoever is behind these false publications because I have God behind me and no one can defeat me in such a just cause no matter how highly placed.
The money was used to take the officers of the DPR and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources on an inspection visit to Tunisia. Officials of the Civil Aviation authorities also travelled for the inspection of the helicopters with officers of Aero Contractors who were to operate the helicopters.
Also, officials and crew of the Tunisian company, Tunisiavia, visited Nigeria to inspect the facilities here in Nigeria where the helicopters will operate.
The N45 million was used to finance all these inspections and the expenses were foreign exchange dominated. At the end of the successful inspection, I was paid N45 million and a letter to the effect that we successfully completed the first phase of the contract was sent to Fidelity Bank Plc.
In another development, I reported some staff of DPR for asking me for bribe with evidence and EFCC and ICPC took no action. At the end of these inspections, the Ministry of Petroleum Resources was supposed to pay N370 million for the helicopters to be ferried to Nigeria in accordance with the terms of the contract. At this stage they refused to make the payment, hence the current stalemate.
Since this matter is in the Federal High court and International court of arbitration for adjudication, I prefer not to give further details at present beyond what is necessary in response to the current effort to slander me with such false publications.
I am not on the run from the EFCC because they know my office in Abuja and my residence. I have no need to run from anybody but no one can intimidate me. The rule of law must be followed at all times. The truth must prevail over lies. I sacrificed my life for 30 years in the military for this nation and cannot at this stage change my habits at 61.

New York's Thanksgiving parade draws huge crowd

Crowds of spectators watched the marching bands, floats and giant balloons of Macy’s annual Thanksgiving Day Parade on Thursday, held without incident under tight security almost two weeks after deadly attacks in Paris.

New York officials expected more than 3 million spectators to have lined the route for the city’s signature parade in its 89th year. They had urged residents and visitors to carry on with holiday plans, saying there were no credible threats to the United States’ most populous city.
President Barack Obama sought to reassure Americans on Wednesday they were safe to travel over the holiday..
Police, who were patrolling in record numbers, arrested a 41-year-old Russian tourist for flying a drone in Central Park near the parade route with his son, 14. No other incidents were reported, a spokeswoman said.
Police walked alongside many parade groups and helicopters hovered overhead amid enhanced security following the Nov. 13 attacks in Paris. Islamic State militants have claimed responsibility for the assault in which 130 people died.
Debbie Irey, 50, a tourist from Salem, Oregon, said security was on her mind as she and her husband watched the parade.
“You can’t live in fear,” said Irey, who works in the financial sector. “The police officers with guns in Times Square heightens your awareness.”
About 50 million people worldwide were expected to have watched the televised 2.5-mile (4-km) parade on a route ending at Macy’s flagship store. The show ushers in the U.S. holiday season and the busiest time of year to travel.
Crowds up to 80 people deep in places applauded baton twirlers, stilt walkers and giant helium balloons of such cartoon characters as Snoopy and Hello Kitty, which hovered over the parade route.
Children on their parents’ shoulders narrated the parade to those in the crowd unable to see. Some youngsters climbed onto police vans, adding to the holiday atmosphere.
Police had added members of a new counterterrorism unit to parade security. Officers guarded subway entrances and circulated through crowds under mostly sunny skies.
“The security is so stringent in NYC that it puts you at ease right from your arrival at the airport,” said Anne Marie Sheehy, 49, of Liverpool, England, who was watching the parade with her travel companion, Paula Deegan, 50.

Man who may have sold guns to Paris attackers has been arrested in germany

Prosecutors in the southern German city of Stuttgart confirmed on Friday they had arrested a 34-year-old man on suspicion of arms dealing but declined to comment on a report that he may have supplied the militants in Paris with four guns.
“I can confirm that a man is in custody on suspicion of arms trading,” a spokesman for the prosecutor in the state of Baden-Wuerttemberg told Reuters, adding that the arrest had been made on Tuesday.
Earlier on Friday, German newspaper Bild reported that the man was suspected of selling four weapons to the militants who killed 130 people in Paris on Nov. 13.
The paper said four assault rifles — two AK-47s made in China and two Zasatva M70s made in the former Yugoslavia — were sold online by the man on Nov. 7 to a buyer of “Arab descent”.
Four emails since found on the man’s smartphone indicate that he was in touch with an “Arab in Paris”, Bild said. The paper added that French prosecutors believe the weapons were used in the Paris attacks.

Herbalist Kidnaps & Turns 2 Girls To s*x Slaves (Photo)

3123861_theminorsTwo stolen kids that were rescued by the Cross River State Police Command on Thursday said they were made s*x slaves by a herbalist, Emmanuel Akpan-Okon, who held them hostage for four years.
The kids, Esther Wisdom and Felicia Destiny, both aged 11, said in the four years that they were held hostage, the herbalist raped them almost every day.
Akpan-Okon (42) was arrested by the police following a tip-off that he specialised in the preparation of charms for armed robbers.
The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Henry Fadairo, said the rescued kids were abducted from their parents separately from Onitsha, Anambra State, and Auchi, Edo State.
He said, “On November 16, 2015, we raided one Emmanuel Akpan’s home in Akamkpa, in the

Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State, based on a tip-off. We gathered he was into the preparation of charms for armed robbers and treatment of criminals with bullet wounds.
“During the raid, we saw two little girls in his house. One is Esther Wisdom and the other, Felicia Destiny. They are both 11 years. On enquiry, we found out that they were abducted four years ago. Wisdom was stolen from Onitsha while Destiny was stolen from Auchi.
“We are making efforts to see how we can locate their parents. The victims claimed that he had been having regular s*x with them.”
Destiny said she was in primary four when she was abducted, adding that the herbalist had raped her many times.
She said, “I was in primary four when he took me away from my home. I remember that my mother lost her sister and when she was going for the burial, she told the man, who was a commercial motorcycle rider, to bring me to her village. That was how I found myself living with him. I used to tell him that I did not like s*x, but he continued.”
Also, Wisdom said, “He has been having s*x with us regularly. He gives us food to eat and promises that one day he will take us back to our mothers.”
Akpan-Okon, who is from Akwa Ibom State, said he abducted the girls because their mothers could not cater for them.
He said, “While staying in the same compound with Wisdom’s mother at Onitsha, I observed that she had problems bringing up her nine children. This girl, Wisdom, was always with me when I was staying in their compound. So, when I wanted to leave Onitsha, I took her with me without telling her mother.
“When I left Onitsha with her, I went to Auchi, and was riding a commercial motorcycle as a means of livelihood.
Where I stayed in Auchi, Destiny was always coming to play with Esther. I also noticed that Destiny’s mother had many children. So, when I wanted to leave the town, I took her along.
“I had s*x with them and I know it is bad in the sight of God. I have a girl child who is with the mother. I will not be happy if she is treated this way.”

Mum’s Facebook plea to reclaim name Isis met with abuse and vitriol

Kim with her daughter Isis, 3.
A MELBOURNE mum whose daughter’s name is Isis says she has been devastated by abusive comments after she made a plea to reclaim the “beautiful” name from the terrorist group.

Kim said she was shocked at some of the “stupid and ignorant” comments from people after she posted on her Facebook page and some community noticeboards this week.
Some people even told her to change her daughter’s name.
Her post read: “Let’s spread pictures of beautiful Isis and ask people to please call those bad guys ‘Daesh’. C’mon now! Nb: Don’t just like, share!!”
The mum of three said she thought it would be a “lovely and positive thing” to try and dissociate the name from the terrorists.
“We don’t want this beautiful name associated with death and terror,” Kim said.
“I wanted to give the topic a face (but) I copped so much abuse it was unbelievable.”
She said her post was deleted off two noticeboards and someone reported it to Facebook.
“Almost immediately I got lots of vitriol,” Kim said.
Kim said she and her husband chose the name Isis for their daughter, who was born in 2012, after an Egyptian goddess.

“The reason we named her that was both her brother and grandfather are both interested in Egyptian mythology and we loved to name her after a goddess,” Kim said.
“The group Isis as we know it now wasn’t known as that in 2012.

“I was naive in thinking people actually knew Isis was an ancient name and what Daesh was.”
Daesh is an acronym for the Arabic phrase al-Dawla al-Islamiya al-Iraq al-Sham (Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant) and used by Governments to condemn the actions of the death cult.
An online petition called “Thousands of women and girls named Isis, please petition media to stop calling the terrorists by our name” has already attracted more than 58,000 signatures.
Kim also wants people to think about their behaviour online.

“On my personal Facebook page I got lots of lovely support but it’s when you step out of the bubble and you go and interact on a community noticeboard then you open yourself up to a complete other experience of Facebook.
“Those public spaces can be badlands.”
Kim said unmoderated community noticeboards were the worst for unbridled comments.
“I think people lose their humanity when they are behind a keyboard,” Kim said.
“I want people to think about whether what they say online is reflective of the kind of person you are in life.
“Step back, take a breath.”

Baloch rebel leader Allah Nazar appears in new video

Baloch Liberation Front leader Allah Nazar
Allah Nazar said Pakistani security forces had turned Balochistan into a "slaughterhouse"
A separatist leader from Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province, who the government believed it had killed in August, has appeared in a new video.
Allah Nazar said he was still leading the insurgency. A Baloch Liberation Front (BLF) spokesman said the video was shot this month.
Government officials told the BBC they were working to verify the video.
The rebels say they will oppose planned Chinese investment in the region.
"For quite some time the government has been issuing propaganda about my death. This is a blatant lie," said Nazar, who vowed to continue to fight.
In September, Balochistan Home Minister Sarfaraz Bugti said the government believed Nazar had been killed in a major military operation in Awaran district in August.
Fear and resentment in Balochistan
The BLF is one of several separatist groups that have been fighting against government forces in the mineral-rich province for almost a decade.
Despite its natural resources, the province is still the least developed part of the country. Separatists say it is being exploited by other parts of Pakistan.
The rebels have carried out kidnappings and bombings against government and security targets, including gas pipelines and other infrastructure.

Baloch militants have been fighting Pakistani troops for years
Human rights groups accuse the military of a campaign of kidnapping, torture and extrajudicial killings of suspected separatists.
"They've turned Balochistan into a slaughterhouse," Nazar said.
He also said his forces would block China's planned $46 billion economic corridor, which passes through the country and ends in the province's Gwadar port.
Nazar said the project was causing Baloch people to be evicted from their homes.
The rebel leader, a doctor from the provincial capital of Quetta, is the most prominent Baloch separatist leader still fighting in the country.
Others are in exile, including Baramdagh Bugti, who in August said he was ready to negotiate with the government. Baloch liberation army militants surrender to authorities in Quetta
