For
Nnamdi Kanu, it is still a long walk to freedom as the Department of
the State Security (DSS) has secured an order of the Federal High Court,
Abuja, to detain him for another 90 days. DSS also asked the Magistrate
Court, currently handling his criminal conspiracy case, to hands off
his trial on the grounds that it lacked jurisdiction to adjudicate on
terrorism cases.
The
90 days extension was granted to enable investigation into allegations
of acts of terrorism and financing of terrorism leveled against him by
the FG. After the investigation, the FG would file a fresh charge
against him before a higher court.
Meanwhile,
at the court yesterday, Kanu begged, to no avail, to be transferred to a
prison custody. His lawyer, Vincent Egechukwu Obeta, also insisted that
transferring his client to prison would enable him to have easy access
to his legal team….. he was like “abeg ooo, abeg” in Orezi’s voice……
