The Governor of Kogi State, Capt
Idris Wada, yesterday warned the All Progressives Congress (APC) to quit
the politics of intolerance and intimidation ahead of the governorship
polls in the state.
The Governor also said the the harassment of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP members by the ruling party is part of the effort to gain unfair advantage at the polls coming up on Saturday.
Wada who spoke through his Chief Communications Manager, Mr. Phrank
Shaibu, said it is unfortunate that President Muhammadu Buhari is
looking the other way while his party engages in dirty and dangerous
games to frustrate the opposition.
He said: “While on the campaign trail ahead of the 2015 general elections, President Buhari said a lot about free and fair elections, but few months after assuming office, he now pretends not to notice it when his party engages in actions that will not make the forthcoming governorship polls in Kogi and Bayelsa free, fair and credible
“The opposition in Kogi State has been systematically harassed and frightened all in an attempt to skew the process in favour of the APC which now holds the reins of power at the centre. Even recent utterances by the APC candidate, Mr Abubakar Audu, in Kabba a couple of weeks ago asking APC supporters to kill any PDP hoodlum, actually set the tone for the harassment that PDP supporters are currently suffering in Kogi State”.
The PDP warned President Buhari and the APC that any attempt to rob the people of Kogi of their votes will be met with stiff resistance.
