Should the Gunners be shopping the January sales?

January is usually the time for sales in England and Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is notorious for his bargain hunting in the transfer market. He nearly ruined his reputation as a spend-thrift by spending big money on the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil in recent summers. However with the Gunners enjoying a very good Premier League campaign then fans may feel it is not necessary for Wenger to dust off the club wallet. However the team’s performance in the Champions League may leave doubts over whether the team are really now equipped to compete with the best.
The Gunners are constantly linked with a new striker, or a new defensive midfielder. The same old rumours will be rolled out in January. Stories that we be aired again are Karim Benzema arriving at the Emirates, or Edinson Cavani spotted house hunting in London.
At the moment the Gunners are not desperate for new signings and are odds of 7/4 to claim the Premier League title this season. It would not be terrible if Arsenal fails to sign anybody in January, but if the Gunners could manage to bring in genuine quality then it certainly would not hamper their chances of success this season.
